Kennard's Artisan Chocolates is an award winning Essex (UK) based company that creates hand-crafted, vegan and kosher chocolates.
They have won two bronze Academy of Chocolate awards for their Triple Espresso and Peanut Butter Truffle chocolates. They are registered with The Vegan Society and are Kosher non-dairy with a KF licence. They also use a minimum amount of ingredients, with no preservatives or flavour enhancers.
Kennard's Artisan Chocolates have a chocolate bar range selling 7 different flavours, including: Raspberry, Roasted Almonds, Coffee, Sea Salt, Praline, Chilli & Cardamom, and Honeycomb.
I was pretty impressed with their Honeycomb chocolate. It basically just tastes like a normal block of delicious chocolate. The ingredients are minimal. It's sweet and very smooth.
It made me think that one of my favourite easter eggs for easter is honeycomb, and last easter I tried a vegan version and it just didn't hit the spot. If Kennard's brought one out next easter I would definitely get my hands on it! Or any other flavour for that matter!
This looks pretty appealing to me! I was excited to see what flavour was inside each chocolate.
This company mentions it only uses minimal and the best ingredients, but there were ingredients such as glucose syrup, non-dairy margarine, and hydrogenated vegetable oils used in their Peanut Butter Truffle, but the ingredients were still minimal. I don't know how natural you can get it to produce a chocolate truffle box like this? And also vegan, but I personally am into more natural ingredients and sweeteners.
They currently sell single flavour chocolate boxes, 3 different sizes of assorted chocolate boxes, and 7 different flavors of the 100g chocolate bars. I have tried these four flavours below, and they also have Strawberry Fondant, Mixed Nut Tiffin, Raspberry Flower, and Peanut Butter Truffle.
Hazelnut Praline (top left):
This one was my favourite out of the four. So delicious, sweet and a smooth hazelnut flavour and texture inside, with a bit of nice crunch too.
Smooth Caramel (top right):
This one kind of had an un-natural flavour at first, then it got better, I thought it was a vanilla fudge, but it is actually caramel, whoops.
Spiced Fruit Cup (bottom left):
This has a nice spice flavour, coming from the cinnamon and mixed spices. It's quite creamy, and smooth.
Tripple Espresso (bottom right):
They use real Italian coffee in this, and you can definitely taste it. It has a natural espresso flavour, with the sweetness.
Verdict: I would definitely recommend Kennard's Artisan Chocolates.
Kennard's Artisan Chocolates are currently running a Crowdfunder campaign, to raise money to expand their business and continue to make their vegan artisan chocolates.
