I found this small Adelaide born company when I was at a small vegan market in Port Noarlunga in South Australia recently. Founders, Luke Carmody and Kimberley Piggott make coconut yoghurt currently wholesaling to cafes in Adelaide.
The yoghurt is vegan and gluten free, also preservative and additive free.
They have just started out wholesaling to cafes for use in dishes etc. And at the moment retail to only a few, which is growing:
Brother Bear - Mt Barker
GD Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers - Hawthorndene
Healthy Inspirations - Hawthorndene
Run of the Mil Fitness - Hindmarsh
You can also find them at the "Vegan Affair" market each quarter, at varying locations around Adelaide.
It is soft and smooth with a cream like consistency. It's creamy with just a hint of the coconut flavour which you can taste with the first spoonful and then after that the coconut flavour disappears. Which is good if you like something similar to dairy yoghurt. It also has a hint of another unusual flavour which I can't quite put my finger on, it may be the agar agar (a gelatinous substance derived from red algae).
It's not sweet like coconut yoghurts usually are so it is more similar to dairy yoghurt which is great. And I love the natural and minimal ingredients they use. Great to mix in your breakfast bowl or eat with fruit or in a smoothie.
