Bute Island Foods Ltd (Cheese)

24 Jul 2017

This company does all different SHeese's, from sliced, grated, blocks, to cream cheese's. Their hopes are to help people go dairy free and I think they're doing an excellent job of that. I've tried some vegan cheese's, and there's taste pretty damn similar to dairy cheese. Their product is also free from gluten and lactose and contains no hydrogenated fats, palm oil or GMO, and no artificial nasties. They use fewer and better ingredients than I have seen on a lot of other brands. Vegan cheese, such as this one, usually use coconut oil as one of their main ingredients, and I don't like the fact that you can really taste the coconut, so it doesn't really resemble the taste of cheese to me. But I was surprised that you can't taste coconut at all in this brand's cheese's. I'll definitely be using their Sheese's in my next platter!

Creamy Sheese

1. Chives

I was so surprised that this just tastes like the dairy version you would by in your local supermarket. It's creamy, just like cream cheese and chives! Delicious!

Price: ALL £2.95

Rating: 10/10

2. Garlic & Herb

Same delicious flavour and creaminess. Equal flavours and not overpowering. Natural tasting deliciousness.

3. Original

Basically the same as cream cheese you would buy in the store. Creamy and tasty! I am so happy this exists, and I'm sure a lot of other vegans will be too.

Rating: 10/10

4. Sweet Chilli

Same creaminess. Nice flavour, a little chilli kick but not strong. It could have had a stronger sweet chilli flavour though, it was a little under-powering.

Sheese

1. White Cheddar

It actually has a similar taste to cheese! Woo! It is a bit more softer than regular cheese, and it's creamy when you eat it. Most versatile being unflavoured. Thumbs up from me!

2. Cheddar Style Caramelised Red Onion

Pretty soft and creamy, can taste the onion flavour, which is not overpowering, it tastes delicious.

3. Mature Cheddar

Still that same cheese flavour. Still a little softer and creamy like the white cheddar, but towards the end it has more of a creamy texture, which makes it taste somewhat like ricotta or something, but it was still yummy.

4. Grated Mozzarella

This one tastes like the mature cheddar, but just lighter in colour. It is a balance between hard and soft, and is creamy when you eat it. Perfect for topping pizzas and anything else!

Rating: 8.5/10

5. Smoked Cheddar

This one is harder, more like regular cheese. It has a really nice smoky flavour. If you have had Cheetos Cheese & Bacon Balls, it actually reminded me of them.

Rating: 7.5/10

6. Red Cheddar

This one is more harder like regular cheese. A bright orange colour. It kind of just tasted a bit fake to me, unfortunately.
