Queen Picnic

Queen Picnic make vegan sandwiches with unique fillings that replicate our usual favourites!

There are endless possibilities for the types of sandwiches they could make. One of my favourites used to be egg & mayo. They really need to make a vegan version of that!! They could also create a vegan BLT or TLT (tofu, lettuce, tomato). I'm really looking forward to seeing what else they create in the future.

Can I just emphasize that all of their sandwiches as a whole - bread, salad and everything inside was super fresh!! And the bread was so soft and delicious. And they had a great balance and generous amount of fillings inside. I don't really like eating anything without knowing the ingredients though so I wish they listed the ingredients on their packets.

Their sandwiches are now being sold in GreenBay, London for £3.50.

You can also find them at Chatsworth Road Market every Sunday from 11am - 4pm.

I think vegan sandwiches should be way more readily available. I am a great fan of Queen Picnic's sandwiches and think they are made super well. These need to be sold in every supermarket and more!

1. Cheese & Pickle

(Vegan cheese with pickle, lettuce and tomato)

Smells like a normal cheese and pickle sandwich. They use vegan butter/margarine in all of their sandwiches. The cheese doesn't taste like much on it's own but in this sandwich it tastes just like a cheese and pickle sandwich, and the texture too. You wouldn't know this was vegan. It's really good! My boyfriend's Nan tried this one, she's not vegan, but a fan of cheese and pickled sandwiches and she loved it!

2. Salmon & Cream Cheese

(Smokey salmon-style carrot with vegan cream cheese, dill and red onion)

Smelt like cream cheese and dill. Tasting the salmon-style carrot on it's own it was soft and had a salty taste, but in this sandwich with the cream cheese and dill it tastes very similar to a cream cheese and salmon sandwich! This was really good.

3. Chicken & Mayo

(Chicken-style seitan with vegan mayo and spring onion)

This smelt really good and creamy. The seitan 'chicken' chunks was very similar in taste and texture to chicken but where much more tougher to chew, I kind of liked the chew though. This was also great with the spring onion. I also really liked this one.

4. Tuna

(Tuna-style jackfruit pieces with dill, red onion, sea kelp and nori)

Doesn't smell like much, maybe a little like nori. It's very interesting. It get's better the more you eat it. All the flavours kind of blend together nicely. It doesn't taste like tuna, maybe more like nori, but this sandwich would be super healthy for you with the nori, sea kelp and jackfruit!

Rating: 8/10

5. Beef

(Beef-style seitan with tomato, rocket and dijon mustard)

Doesn't really smell like anything. It has the same texture to beef. It doesn't really taste close to beef or doesn't really have a distinct flavour but it is pretty good with the mustard and as a whole. I also think it needed more mustard. It it alright, vegans that miss beef, and others would like this one I reckon.
